How to use Be + like & Look like

Last week friend of mine had an assignment from school. She was asked to discuss about short story, find out the characters, setting, problems, etc.In that assignment, there was questions about characters in short story "What is she like?" and "What does she look like?" Her teacher said that the two questions have the same answers. In fact, those questions absolutely different.Those questions asked about different things. That's why I think maybe I should give you, who has the same confusion, information about the usage of those phrases.

1. Be + Like
When we are asking about someone's personality or attitude, we use this phrase.
Eg : What is she like? this question can be answered :
She is nice, and friendly.

2. Look like
This phrase is used when we're asking about someone's appearance or physical appearance.
Eg : What does she look like? this also can be answered :
She is not really tall. She has a blue eyes and brown hair.

Best Ever Man

Many people who has known him admire him. He has taught me many things. He's my Suhu .He is a human being who has weakness and imperfection like others. But one thing that make me very proud of him is his optimism and encouragement to face the difficult and hard life. He has ever said that "life is a struggle". He proof it.. He struggles very hard in his life. He has very hard burdens. If I were he, I can't stand any longer, and I'll commit to suicide.
But he's special.. he is blessed and given many talents by God..
I hope he'll never give up and keep stronger..
He's needed and loved...

Amazing Experience!!!!!

I remember when I and friends of mine taught at one of elementary school in our city. Its name is "Sekolah Dasar Negeri 5 Sukajadi". The school is very far from town and people said that this school is on the transmigration area where most people live there came from Java.

For the first time we thought, "Oh my god...!! this school is very far.." However, we had to do it because that was our requirement to get our "SS" degree. The teachers were very friendly and so did the students. We taught an English there for a month, from grade one to six. Although the students did not really understand about English, but their enthusiasm made us thought that we had to give our best to teach them. We taught them about their lessons, and we asked them to practice it.

For example, whenever we learnt about greetings, we asked them to greet us when they meet us.The funniest thing happened when not only the students but also their mothers greeted us "Good morning miss....."HeHeHe....

Whenever we learnt about new words we taught them how to memorize those words by making a song with those words, then we sang together. At the end of the study, we played a games. And of course we gave a reward for those who could answer the question. All of the students were very happy...

The greatest thanks came to the principal (middle) and all the teachers of SD N 5 Sukajadi. Thanks for your good cooperation, kind, and help. We won't forget the moments in that school , so we kept every moment in pictures.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

What's in your mind about Independence Day which always be celebrated every 17th of August?It must be raising flag ceremony, and competitions or games(the most essential is "panjat pinang").But we musn't forget about our heroes who had fight against the colonialism.without their struggle, maybe now we can't be free and enjoy the our life.Many thanks to them......And may GOD always bless them.This morning, when I'm on my way to campus, I saw a lot of flags in front of every shop in front of two sides of the street, and also there are a lot of students walk through the left side of the street . My mind went back to the past when I was in senior high school.At that time, when the Independence day came, all of the students busy to prepare themselves to join the competitions which held by school. There were so many competitions such as; speech competition, cooking,basketball competition. Moreover we used to decorated our class as good as possible. We were very enthusiastic.Red and White every where.

Now I really want to back to that time, feel the atmosphere, feel the crowd.......
Feel the spirit of nationalism and patriotism.

My Life Is a Misery !!!!!!!!

That was I thought when I got into troubles. I used to think that it's unfair for me!.others could enjoy their life happily. But why I couldn't??God never give me a happiness,but troubles.. You know,When I was in a trouble, I wish I could run away or escaped, But where...??
Finally I decided to face the problem. I had no choices.At that time I thought maybe it happened because of my fault, and maybe it's my karma (Buddhism believe that karma is what will you get as a result/effect for something you did).
Trouble by trouble came...
I faced it and realized that I was so weak before I was given the "troubles". I learned something through the troubles. I learned something useful. Something that I and people called it " Blessing In disguise". I felt that I was Blessed, because through those troubles I get something worthy.
The more I get into troubles, the wiser I will be..
I become stronger and stronger..
Every trouble that happened, happens, or will happen in my life no longer to be called "Trouble". From Now on, I called it "Temptation".
Now I believe whether it's happiness or misery given to me, God will always bless me . He just want to make me strong and wise.
I just need to enjoy both of them..
But do you know how??
Just positive thinking, give thanks to 'Him', and get the blessing In disguise.

Will & Be Going To

When we want to express an activity in the future time, we usually use "will" or "be going to". Both of them have the same meaning. Now Let's see the specific function of "will" and "be going to".
1. When you want to predict something which will happen in the future time( prediction), you

can use both "will" and "be going to".

eg : Look at the cloudy sky! it is going to rain.
According to the weather report, it will rain today.

2. When you want to do something by your own willingness, you can use "will" to express it.
eg : Y : "somebody is knocking the door"
W : "I will open it."

3. To express a prior(main or more important) plan, you can only use"be going to".
eg : A : "Why did Mr. Smith packed all his clothes?"
B : "He is going to leave to New York.

Learning english by song

If you have difficulties in learning english or maybe you are too lazy to learn english from books,you can try my way in learning english.Listening western song is my hobby. That's why I also like to sing that song. While listening, I try to memorize word by word in that song and how the singer pronounce the words. Even I find the meaning of the words in my dictionary, so I'll know what the singer want to say by singing his/her song.You know, sometimes song is the feeling of the singer and it is similar to poetry. After I did it, automatically I learned english!!But you need to choose the right song because nowadays there are many songs use slang and it will be difficult for you who want to learn good english.In learning english dictionary is your best guide!!!!!

Do you know that when your nose is bleeding, your mom will ask you to use "daun sirih" .Many people belive it can stop the blood.You just need to put the roll of "Daun sirih"into your nostril and pointed your head upward for a while.

Usually we use toothapaste for our teeth, but some people also use toothpaste when they have a scald or agne.Even freinds of mine also do that, i've never tried it because I doubt it will be effective.They said toothpaste can reduce the heat in your scald and it can make your agne run away.
